Myrna the Minx and her fast paced, hip blog, Reno & Its Discontents provided the inspiration I needed to move out of Elko and into Reno where the culture is much more diverse and satisfying for a discontent like me. I learned about great places to eat, shop and hang out from her blog. It also provided me with a good drink of liberal water that I desperately needed while living in that last bastion of conservatism.
I must say that like the article ponders, people did wonder who she really was. I, for one, never thought it was Assemblyman David Bobzien! I did think it was his talented wife a time or two! Yes, you, Lisa the talented woman! But then I would remind myself of a post the Mynx did about two years ago. It was about how stylish Lisa was with her clothing and fashion sense. If you know Lisa, and I do not know her really, really well like my friend Medea does, you will know right away that she is a great woman who is not arrogant. She's classy. She wouldn't write about herself like that, anonymously. So I knew back then that Myrna had to be a woman who noticed and appreciated the fashion sense of other women ...like us girls are known to do!
Well, Myrna, I mean ...Tracy! It's great to know who you are and I hope you will continue to add to the culture of Reno with your blog and your talent and that great smile! When I look at that picture of you, I can see Myrna with that saucy attitude and stance! You go, girl!

is what is confusing me! It's one of the things (that I didn't mention
in Myrna's comments section for the post on legal issues) that I've been wondering about now.
I notice we can post youtube videos alright. (God, I LOVE that site.)
I wonder if AP is going to notice that I posted a photo of theirs showing Obama practicing the Zen of Pool (hey, it's a url with a jpg at the end, so easy for me to repost without "uploading" to the computer and all the rest of it).
Woops...way off subject now.
Well, a favorite guessing game is over. Which was a funny game, because Tracy V is not a public figure and so how could anyone reasonably have a chance of figuring it out?
Strangely, though, her name WAS
very familiar to me. As are the names of many, many people in the downtown precinct.
Oh...which brings up something else! Myrna, there's an opening now for precinct captain (or even possibly Section Coordinator) in
Precinct 5056. I would post the email contact info, but that might be a no no (I read the EFF FAQ).
There is one very dissatisying
aspect to being a precinct captain
(actually called "sub-section coordinator" nowadays) for downtown.
It's impossible to door to door canvass, etc. You have to phone or email people. All the condos, apartment complexes, residential hotels, etc. obviously don't allow door to door. I never even did it at my humble place, the Riverboat Apartments. (Which wasn't necessary anyway....everyone there knew I was the precinct captain and the Obama guy.)
Before me, it was Erik Holland who represented our precinct.
But, I presume you are still a Democrat (it's been months now since I've had to update my walk and call lists, because I no longer am the precinct captain) and this might be a good way for you to become very intimately familiar with the Washoe Dem scene.
Btw and FYI, Godzilla eats Reno will be carried on DB this weekend for all whose stomach is too queasy to go.
